Members of the Royal Canadian Air Force have been actively engaged with Elevate Aviation since its inception in 2015. This collaboration was formally endorsed by the Commander of the Air Force in 2019. Both the RCAF and Elevate Aviation share common values and acknowledge the significance of promoting gender balance within the aviation sector. Military personnel who choose to become involved in Elevate Aviation are able to take part in various activities across the country including the Cross Country Tour, AME Competitions, and Community Engagement initiatives.
Individuals interested in joining the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) who register with Elevate Aviation are assigned a military mentor. This mentor provides first-hand insights into life in the Air Force, guides them through the recruiting website, explains both Regular Force and part-time Reserve options, and assists them throughout the recruiting process. Mentors are matched based on the trade the individual is interested in, or general RCAF mentoring if that is what is requested (this would be less trade specific). Elevate Aviation is committed to promoting gender equality, and the mentorship program is open to all genders.
It is essential for everyone to have a mentor outside their Chain of Command for advice and support. For lower ranks, mentees are typically paired with a mentor in the same trade, while higher ranks can choose between a military mentor (from any trade) or a civilian mentor, such as a CEO or VP.
Any RCAF Elevate member can opt to be a mentor, mentee, or both. Mentors are expected to contact their mentees at least once every three months via phone, FaceTime, or another mutually agreed-upon method.
Currently serving military members can enroll in this internal mentorship program as either a mentor or a mentee through the link provided below. The Military Ambassador will strive to connect them with a suitable mentor/mentee promptly.
The mentorship can be terminated at any time by either party, or they can request a different mentor/mentee if the match is not suitable.

There are many different types of outreach and aviation engagement opportunities available through Elevate Aviation, and for each event, we work towards having both civilian and military Elevate members present. Immediate Chain of Command approval is required on a case by case basis for each event as Temporary Duty (TD) is granted and members are representing the RCAF in uniform.
Some of these outreach events include our annual Cross Country Tour, featuring a variety of aviation careers at airports all across Canada, speaking opportunities at schools, attending airshows, career fairs, and other events with the Elevate Aviation booth, presenting at the Elevate Aviation Learning Centre in Edmonton and Calgary, participating in Maintenance Competitions, and being featured as a woman in aviation at the Inspire Gala.
